Nothing that comes from audi is priced anywhere near the actual price. Thing probably costs $50 to make.

However, as to the original question...
Take into account that it:
is "Constructed from the finest leather," AND "provides optimal protection from dust and scratches." Also "it includes a padded inner lining made of high-quality Nardia microfiber." (whateveah THAT is) PLUS "The main compartment fits 15-17-inch laptops while the second compartment hold everything from pens and business cards to a mobile phone or PDA." And, one last thing is that it "also includes a removable carrying strap with shoulder pad."
Only then are you able to honestly determine that, HECKY-NAWL! This thing ain't worth $999. $29.99, MAYBE. $999, uh-uh

It's the removable carrying strap that makes it so expensive. Those things are pretty hard to make don't ya know!
