the Valitine is a great radar detector, but as Notahonda owner said, Laser is what s used now. And listen to him he's a cop. So I'd just invest that money else where if I were you.


But if you are dead set on a detector, the V1 is a great choice but the 3 big guys will all probably do well.

your best bet would be to save a little more and pick up a laser detector/laser jammer like the 9500ci... But yea, you may be looking at around $1000 on the bill. You can also look at getting the Escort ZR3 on ebay

I haven't gotten a detector or a jammer yet because I've been trying to decide on the best option overall, but I think I may end up just going with the Escort ZR3 since it has moderately good reviews and I don't plan on using it all that often.

 

nevermind... found more reviews on the ZR3... seems like it's not worth it, so maybe the 9500ci or a laserstart alternative with 3 heads up front would be an option...

 

Thats not true! Laser is used FAR less than radar in my area. Throughout the north east radar is exponentially more prevalant. And dont listen to him, HES A COP! Maybe your department only used laser but i have NEVER gotten hit with laser in the towns and citys around me, dosnt mean they dont have it...

To the OP Most detectors are junk, especially ar $150 lol I have a hardwired valentine 1 and its the *****. Ya it alerts me to every marketbasket and walmart but its also DAMN good at giving you a headsup on speedtraps if you use it right and dont drive like an ***.

Yes if you get hit with laser the cop allready has your speed, a jammer will help you out because it prevents the officer from getting a reading so you can slow down quickly, shut off the jammer, and the officer will get a reading at a legal speed on his 3rd or 4th shot. SO your best bet is a Valentine 1 and a Blinder jammer system but thats up over $1500 together.

JUST REMEMBER IT DOSNT MAKE YOU INVINCIBLE!

Speeding is still a risky activity and you shouldnt do it when it may be dangerous to yourself or others. A detector gives some people a strong sence of false security, even when its a POS and is mounted low ont he windsheild and it pretty much useless.

Just do like that guy did in Palmdale Ca. a few years ago!
check it out this guy who worked at Skunk Works at Edward Air Force Base got ahold of some of that Radar absorbent paint and painted his entire car with that ****. Long story short, the cop couldn't get a reading and the guy was going way too fast for the cop to catch up, so the cop radioed in for the Ghetto Bird and ended up busting his a$$. Car got crushed and the guy guy went to jail.....LOL True Story !!!
