If you've ever wanted to go road-racing on the cheap, the 24 Hours of LeMons is an endurance racing series for cars that cost no more than 500 bucks.

There are two events left in 2008, October 18-19 at MSR Houston in Texas and December 27-28 at Thunderhill in Northern California. Registration for Texas is closed (the race is open to spectators), but there is still time to apply for Thunderhill. Thunderhill applications are due by 10/18.

There have been a handful of 4000s that have showed up--personally, I'm waiting for a 5000 turbo…here's your excuse to drag that car out from behind the garage!

 

I keep up on the website, and the occasional article I find around. Was psyched to do it except its $500 per car + $100 per driver + $75 for non-drivers. (Each team must have 4-6 drivers.) And now it's starting to get a little more expensive/hard to get a team together (friends are all tightwads). Someday maybe. I even HAD a 5000csq to use, but it sank too far into the ground.
