Question Question...

I'm looking to purchase an A4, but I have a few questions to ask before doing so.

What year's are generally the best buy?
And what should I be looking for as far as prices, issues with the car, mods etc.

There are a ton of options and variables to take into consideration before buying any car, especially an Audi. I would suggest you spend some time in the A4 sections. Read the stickies. Don't be too put off by all the "Help I have problems" threads, as this is where people come when they have problems. There are some A4's that are more mod friendly, specifically the 1.8T, which is rather anemic stock but easily moddable for decent HP and more complicated mods give you wicked HP ($$$$).

Prices are variable depending on demand, what area you are in, condition of the vehicle, so don't expect to get any kind of accurate guesses, especially when you have provided few details as to exactly what you are looking for. Be wary of buying someone's failed project or maintenance neglected vehicle.

be sure to set aside some extra money for maintenance

good luck

99.5 1.8T QUATTRO with 5 speed.

Good maintenance records

Timing belt recently done.

the fewer mods the better (people tend to beat up on their cars after they mod them heavily)

Look to spend between $4,000- $5,500 depending on mileage, maintenance, and overall condition.

The real key is to narrow down the body style you prefer then the options you cant live without. Then the color choice.. From there you should be able to narrow it down quite a bit to determine what exact year(s) you need to keep an eye out for.
