Question Porsche

So my wife gave me permission to get a Porsche. At first I thought 911 Turbo. But the Targa looks nice too but way less power. I guess it'll come down to the test drive. The 2.0T really has me leaning more towards the 911T. I never thought turbos were so awesome. What do you guys think? Is the 911T overkill for a weekend car? What would you consider?

You might get better responses in a Porsche forum ;-)

yeah, but there's a few guys here that own them, or have owned them. Hell, I make Porsche aftermarket stuff for a living...

Personally, overkill is not in my vocabulary. I'd go for the turbo if I could. I'm not a big fan of soft tops/targa tops anyway, so maybe my opinion is way biased.

911's used to be the car of choice, especially for the weekenders. I know a number of military officers who had them as daily drivers.

In the end, you are the one who has to be happy with what you choose, but I have to ask why not Ferrari or a Jag convertible? Or a stainless steel DeLorean? Especially with the DeLorean, there's a lot to be said for what can be done with it...and it wouldn't be all that bad as a weekend driver either.....

I'm a big fan of German engineering and craftsmanship. The only cars I'll ever buy will be German-made. Plus my wife loves the look of Porsches. She also likes the R8. I think it'll come down to a test drive between the 911T and the R8.

thanks achTTung.

well yeah, I don't remember seeing the R8 in the option list... R8 for sure! When you stand on it, it sounds like a small airplane throttling up to take off.

Didn't get to drive one, but I had aural sex (like that?) with one at the Audi Experience at the Pocono raceway.

Get the V10 and skip the SC. Then you've got a badass Audi with a slightly detuned Lambo engine. Nothing beats an Audi interior IMO.
