Yeah, it is strange that they would hire senior citizens to pull crossing guard duties. But, the kicker is the driver claims he didn't see her although she was wearing high visibility gear. Thats really sad.

 

This reminds me of how it is in Arizona. You don't renew your license here until your 65!!! How is it that in the state that is notorious for senior citizens would do something like that. It has to be the worst idea I have ever heard of.

 

Old folk in the UK have no test at all when they reach 65... They go on causing havoc till they push up daisies...

 

Here in Ontario, we USED to have a test for the elderly at 70 -- a driven test. Then they got rid of it...

That's a step in the wrong direction if I'd ever seen one.

 

I have personally informed my children, and periodically reinforce the notion, that, when I become senile, and a threat to the general driving public, they have an obligation... to ME, and the world at large, to do WHATEVER it takes to REMOVE me from teh roads. ANYTHING, short or homicide, that is

True story though. I have actually told them that.

 

No criminal charges were filed in the accident.
