RE: OMG!!! Minneapolis bridge collapsed
I thought we lived in a non-third-world country where bridges didn't randonly collapse?[&:]
They said they were doing work on it, maybe they didn't limit traffic flow enough because they didn't want to make a traffic nightmare. Whenever bridges are under repair here, they cut the volume of traffic on them by at least half. Makes for a hell of a commute, but rather err on the side of caution, right?

RE: OMG!!! Minneapolis bridge collapsed
Alright..i better chat about this.. being i live near by.
So far 7 fatalties with many still missing and the death toll expected to rise. Luckily however, it was much better than it could have been. They were doing work on the bridge (cosmetic or asphalt stuff) so they pretty much had it limited to 1 or 2 lanes....instead of the full load of pedestrians that could have been on it.
But i heard this first yesterday via radio...luckily i wasnt in the area too close, But i was in schock..this is a major artery for the traffic system through teh city and will take years to fix and it will most likely cause a HUGE headache for traffic as there isnt really any other decent way to get through that area without going way around, or else right through city streets.
I will have many pics up shortly.
