Only reason is to make it easier for the state to ticket us. And the creation of the plates is an unnecessary expenditure of tax revenue. God knows this state needs all the help it can get. Cut out BS costs like this. It's not like the revenue stream from tickets will drop just because the plates are gone.

I signed, but let me point out a few flaws in the thinking here...
Even if only one is required, a pair would still most likely be made.
Pulling over you (ok, most likely ME) for no front plate is an easy money maker. Also, NY has technology in place, at least in some cruisers, to automatically read plate numbers, and the computer will throw an alarm if it reads a plate of a vehicle that was attached to a crime. Twice teh plates, twice the chance of stopping the car.
BTW, when I was home for Christmas, I drove to Norwich on Dec 27th. Grabbed some chinese food, and on my way out of the plaza, a cop was stopped at the light. I had to go past him, and when I did, he whipped his car around and had his lights on in a matter of seconds.
Stopped me for no front plate, and for my inspection being due "a looong time ago" (actually how he phrased it). I'm 8 months overdue on my inspection now. Gotta pay the fine, but its not a fix-it ticket, so I'm not gonna bother inspecting the car. Well, it wouldn't pass if I wanted it. Dash is still lit up like a christmas tree.
First, eliminating the need for a front license plate will significantly reduce the state costs associated with production, storage, and shipping.
Finally, police officers will be more productive in stopping dangerous motor vehicle violations such as drunk driving, reckless driving, speeding, racing, etc., since their time will not be compromised by a New York motorist who simply did not have a front license plate on display.
