Tomorrow, I'm going to call every Audi dealer within 50 miles of my house and see if they will cut a key if I give them the VIN but no other paperwork. I am willing to bet that not a single one will do it. Any takers?

 

Damn, of all the ways to steal and car. I thought you had to show id before getting a new key.

 

i guess that would explain why many car i bought had a card or soemthing covering the VIN #

So, I called 11 dealerships today and not a single one would take a vin number and just give me a key. Three of them hung up, and the closest one to me threatened to send my phone number to the police. So, as I said before, that's just chainmail bullsh*t.

 

Unlike some members of this forum, I'm a man of action, I don't just run my mouth.

When I got the A3, the salesman was very specific about all of the required documentation to get a new key. He must have reiterated it three times. I guess they do take it pretty seriously.
