i taught my gf how to on my car.. so i dont see a problem with it.. besides if she screws it up.. she can buy you a racing clutch
its also one of the harder clutches to learn. so start her off with a car that is very easy, with an engine you can hear, like an old vw bug

she's 18. i'm 19. she'll be 19 in august. I don't feel comfortable asking my parents for money, much less the girl. And by 450 I hope you mean about 1000. I'm not about to tackle a clutch job. Don't have the tools or stands. Plus, im getting close to control arm time. Squeaking is very noticeable over bumps now.
I'm going to suggest to her the way I learned: test driving used cars.
Funny thing is, I realize now, it might be one of those questions that makes you choose between the girl and the ride. I failed miserably. [:@]
I hope some of you guys learn something from this. Say 'yes,' but don't actually do it.
