i've had a rio, iriver, ipod mini, & ipod nano. i would prefer the video, but as you can see i make impulsive decisions that get me no where so i swore i would wait another year before upgrading.

i spilt orange juice all over the rio, but it was a pretty good player
iriver also has good sound
my mini is great, but i love the nano because of how slender it is, it does scratch easy, but w/ a case its not that big of a deal.

just a note if you buy from the mac site & you're a college student they have a pretty good discount
and actually although they ask what school you attend, they do not actually check it out

I have the mini and love it. My dad just got the nano and he can't put it down, my friend had one and it was in his front pocket and he crouched down to wash his wheels and just the pressure of his pant leg cracked the screen on the nano. He returned it for a second one and it happened again so he gave up on that one. I think he just picked up a mini on ebay... its a freakin tank... can't seem to break it haha.

imo, I think the nano is really nice although I will agree with everyone else that it scratches extremely easily.

I got a 4gig Nano. Its definely small but I enjoy switching out my MP3s and making new play lists. The scratching is definetly a huge issue but the Ipod Video also suffers from this. Get a case right away, I got a nice black alluminum one.

i have the black nano, i love it, its definatly the best for the car and i just have my 40 gig as backup for all my songs... sound quality is the same, its pretty good i think, also depends on the headphones but its good, interface is good too, real user friendly
