How do you get good with tiptronic?

Is there a secret skill behind it?

No no no, the trick is to anticipate the 5-7 second delay it takes to shift after pushing the button.

 

Do you have to let go of the gas pedal when you switch gears?

Getting good @ tip is all about keeping your eyes off the tach and learning to feel and hear what the car is doing and know what gear she wants to be in.

That's why I think it should be a law that everyone learns on a stick before an automatic or something more advanced like tiptronic on monotronic.

So missing a shift is bad right? LOL.

 

The tip will change gear's automatical to before you redline it. I've never tryed that in anything but 5th gear so I'm know speaking from exp. Other users talk about letting the computer do the shifting for you in tip.
I was told by a mech that, that is to prevent distroying your tranny.

no the computer does not change gears for you if you go over the rev liminter. i found that out the bad way. lets just say thatatmid 7,000 rpms i realized it.

but if your going to slow or up hill, it will downshift for you at around 1,300 rpms
