Red face My Dipstic is somehow cracking and deteriorating.

I need to replace my Oil dipstick. Seems to be cracking and wants to fall apart.. strange issue I know.

Can anyone please suggest an online part source to order through?

Regards,
Jason

if u got an audi or vw dealership they can provide you one for like 18 bucks. I got mine from a vw dealership for like 15 here in town since we have no audi dealership.

Common problem, after awhile u cant even get them off without destroying the orange plastic. Like pa4ul said, they are pretty inexpensive and easy to swap out.

1: Undo couple of screws.
2: Pull old one out.
3: Put new one in.
4: Put screws back.

Seriously, it's that easy. Just look for a little bracket that holds it down to the block. On my TT it's 2 screws, can't imagine the A6 or any other car would be much harder.

^ That would be a pretty extensive DIY. I'm not sure everyone would be able to follow it.

if u dipstick already broke just pull it and be careful not to have any plastic fall in the engine and if nesscary i hear people get a dremel to take out the bottom pieces. Mine just disentagrated when i yanked on it.

when mine broke i put a towel in the tube so nothing drops in it and grabbed a pair of pliers to break the rest off.
