model cars

RE: model cars
Awesome! I may be getting on in years, but model-making is a hobby that has stuck with me since I was a kid. Just finishing up a Westphalia for my gf (she owns one. Made it look just like hers) and have a large scale classic Mini as my showpiece. There is something very relaxing about making models, the focus and attention to detail it requires if your gonna do it right. It took me several months to finish the Mini (working in fits and starts), only to find my 3-year-old playing with it one day. I know he didn't know any better, but inside, I was pissed. Busted the hell out of it. All fixable so it wasn't too big a deal.

RE: model cars
I used to customize my models, way back when. I once swapped the suspensions on a 4WD wrecker witha custome 'Vette-S/W. I ended up with a SWEET-looking droppeed wrecker (with, like, 14 PAIRS of aux-lights on the front-end/pushbar), and a mile-high 'Vette!
I stopped modeing years ago, but I have ALWAYS planned on returning to the fold, once my life allows me some spare time, again.
The Ur is "ULTRA," BTW. Makes me want to pull the string on the CQ I've been arguinng with myself about, for teh last 6 months...

Definitely not for kiddies... 32 years old and building like nuts. Can you afford all the cars you want in real life, that's the beauty in scale. I build mostly Pre 1964 customs and hot rods, but will do other types occasionally. Here is a 1987 coupe Q with R8 engine/trans I am working on...

definitely awesome, i used to envy a friend who was really into scale model cars back in the 80s... i was able to get me a couple of muscle car scale models in '99 but i stopped with the hobby after finding a job and not being able to devote some time to it...

Radio shack has a RC R8 its in there Xmods line. Would be pretty fun haha. Then there's a higher end one that sells just about any kind of body for their's you can think of but its model car quality detail. They even come in a great AWD chassis.

i could never own a modle UR Quattro. every time i would look at it i would be like "man that does not cut it." then i would look at the 4k and the 5kt and think humm if i combined them....bottom line it would lead to too many bad ideas.. but i will say that thing looks very well built.

No scale model of the 4000 exists, yet. I do have another UR that I have begun to plan out the conversion to a 4000. It will be a **** ton of work to convert, but if it comes out well I can resin cast and sell bodies...
