California Law requires that the first six months that you have your license, you can't drive anyone under 20 years old unless you are also with your parents. Curfew for the first year is no driving from 12 am. to 5 am.
I got my license July 1st 2005, meaning six months would be Jan. 1st 2006 (today). So instead of being able to drive people around legally today, a new law goes into effect that extends that restriction 6 months or until I'm 18 (May, this year) and changes the curfew to 11pm to 5am. I'm not so much upset about the driving people around restriction, more about the curfew. I get off work at 11-12 at night, the poker games I go to end past 11, and other general things I do at night usually go past 11.
Stupid CA... I'm sick of all the rules.

cameron the curfew is only in effect for cruising. If u are leaving work, school, etc u just say ur on ur way home and u were here and they shouldnt do anything. I dont think the new rules should affect u since they dont me.

Is the law written as "6-months," or, "180-days"? If it's the latter, 180 calendar days from 1 Jul is, LITERALLY 27Dec (go ahead, count 'em, I'll wait...) If it's 6 months thenm your "sentence" was UP effective 31Dec, making you a free man effective 00:00:01 1 Jan, unless, of course, the extension started 31Dec, in which case YOU'RE HOSED!!! Got any relatives in AZ, WA, NM? Move there for a month and get a new license. Move back and you've got something like 6 months before you're legally required to obtain a CA license, unless they changed THAT law, too, since I lived there two+ decades ago...
