Default M3 or SRT4?

Okay, a friend of mine that I work w/ is buying a new car and needs some help. He used to own an SRT4 but wrecked it. Now he wants another one, but I'm tryin to talk him into something different. A dealer in town has both of these car:

2004 SRT 4: $17K; 32,000mi, red/blk w/ following mods-
Mopar Stage 2 w/ toys, Borla exhaust, aftermarket clutch, short-throw, bov, and turbo-timer

1997 BMW M3: $11K; 110,000mi, green/tan5 speed completely stock, in great condition

Which would you guys choose?? I'm trying to get him to buy the M3 cause I think it's the better deal, honestly. Plus, everyone and their damn grandma has an SRT4 around here. Also, in our little car "clique", I'm one of only 2 RWD guys. Me and another guy have 350Z's. Everyone else has DSM's, Evos, STi's, WRX's or Honda's. It'd be nice to have another guy w/ rear-wheel you know?? Anyways, just wondering what you guys' thoughts were......

I wouldn't take either. I don't know about you guys but I don't like having to take my car in to the shops every other week.

I have a friend now w/ a '98 M3 that has 103K mi and itruns flawless. I also know numerous people w/ SRT4's and they have no trouble w/ them. It's all about proper maintenance and taking care of your car.

He really wants something that's fast out of the box. If I had the cash though, I'd be interested.

To be honest I'd rather have a 32k SRT-4 with those Mods than any 110k car, especially BMW. Not to mention its 97 and is 10 years old.

I don't see how an SRT-4 can have so many issues like you claim? There **** box frame + engine, wheres the complicated math to bring issues its way!

SRT-4's have got to be fun to drive even though they are a neon sh*t box, and with those mods its got some speed. Its biggest fault is FWD, but if he liked that before he'll like it again. Especially modded. If your gonna direct him anywhere else, try to find a new M3 for 17k.... cause I'd rather take an 00 M3 with 60-70k miles than a Neon. But thats just my opinion, I'm not a big fan of buying cars in the 100,000's mileage wise.

I wish your friend luck

I didn't say SRT-4's had problems or issues, they did. I'm just tryin to talk him into the BMW cause I think it's a better deal. It's nothing for BMW's to have that much mileage. And this car was well taken care of. The dealer that has it has a reputation for having really good pre-owned cars. It's actually where I bought my Audi from.
