Lookin at buying a laptop, oppinoins?
So ive decided ive gotta get rid of this desktop and buy a laptop. I have looked at best buy and at dell online for some. Best buy had one I really liked but it had nothing but bad reviews, and dell has one I like its the Studio 17. Does anyone have any suggestions on what kind I should look at? Thanks.

Don't get a Dell cuz they're made cheap. I recommend this laptop. It's probably much more of a pc then you need but it's just a well featured pc.

I have a Compaq Presario C700 and it works great for me although Vista makes me want to smash my head off a wall periodically. I use my computer for web-surfing and school work and it only ran me around $400 from Best Buy.

Dell uses very cheap parts. i have a dell and i extremely regret buying it. i paid 1600 2 years ago and it's got 2gb ram, 160gb HD, radeon x1400 mobile Vid card and a T7200 intel core 2 duo cpu. you would think with those specs it's a pretty good comp but let me tell you this, the HD is from some **** company and so is are the 2 sticks of ram. the battery is dead and the dvd burner is on its way out even though i barely use the drive. i've reformated 2 times already and i only use it for school work and surfing but it doesn't fail to fail me at times i really need it. maybe i'm one of those people who got a lemon but i've heard aweful stories from other people too. i've also heard good things about dell but it is your decision, i'm just giving my 2 cents. also i prefer an HP

I have a compaq presario c500, and I wouldnt recommend it at all
if you plan on doing just school work type stuff, make sure the battery life is good (mine lasts about an hour tops on powersaver mode when unplugged... which is horrible)
also I would buy something with at least 2gb RAM, seeing as mine has 512mb, and its a turd... oh and if you can find one that comes with a full version of microsoft office, thats always a plus for schoolwork lol

had a compaq f700, was alright, only had a pentium dual core in it, but only paid 450. then it got stollen and i went to best buy (i worked at circuit city and this was the time we were starting to liquidate, and they still had better deals than us). eyed up this clearnced toshiba m305s4848. i got a t5800 cpu (i know not the best but it hasnt failed me) 4gb rams, 14.1" screen, some other bells and whistles. not a bad computer if you can find one for 600
