I just wanted to show that to you. I'm sure yours will be fine. High power laptops give off so much heat these days that it is important to have one that has not only the correct parts, but some real thought and engineering into it. That's all I was thinking. Maybe I'm just trying to rationalize in my head my XPS that i just got.

I'm really glad you posted it. It made me think about it a little more and I'll check out some other brands. Also, I'm going to talk to a guy I know that knows a lot about computers and ask him what he thinks.

BTW how do you like the XPS and does it ever get really hot?

It's being built now. I'll probably get it the second week of July. I'll give you the full rundown when it comes in.

Okay sounds good. My friend just ordered a $3,500 Alienware with SLI that is beginning built right now. The thing is a beast.

HP's are good. But if your thinking HP, go Compaq. They are the same parts/maker, and compaq's are more stylish than HP's these days and seem to cost a little less for the same specs. Ive had a compaq r4000 for about a year and its been great. Youd prbably want somehting smaller than an r4000 though for moving around a lot, its basicaly a 10lb portable desktop.

Got my new laptop today - sooner than expected!

It is nice. I can't believe how sweet the screen is. I was dumb and ordered a wireless router from Dell as well and they are sending it seperately. I won't have it until after the 4th, so I'm using the neighbor's wireless connect.

Getting everything set up like I want takes a while, but I'm pleased overall so far.

Nice! Tell us how the XPS is because I might end up getting one now. My dad didn't like the idea of buying a laptop from a no-name company. How much did you spend on your XPS? I customized one for around $3,400 so we'll see if I get it. But any input from you would be great!
