Lambo?
A friend of mine had asked me this weekend if I would be interested in doing a motor swap on a late 80's Lamborghini. I dont have much info. on it other than its a friend of his dad's andmy friendis not very knowledgeable about car's. This guy will let me use his 2 story garage with all the tool's and lifts I need.
How hard do you guys think this will be? I figure its deff. not going tobe as easy as a caviler but considering its a late 80's it should not be too bad, right? I also need to come up with a price for this which is a bit difficult since I never done a lambo before& he is supplying the tools/facility.
Any tips/suggestions you fellas can giveme?

RE: Lambo?
What I know is that old Lambo's are an eletrical nightmare. They use every color under the rainbow for the wires and apparently they don't make a lot of sense. I think the physical swap wouldn't be that hard, but getting it in running porder again might take a while. A guy I know is currently rebuilding/restoring a Muria, and last I checked he was still doing eletrical work (re-wired the entire car)

The swap should be easy except like they said, electrical. The v12's are simple engines in those years though so you shouldnt have too many problems i wouldnt think. Countach? Is it a anniversary edition? Only problem is not much room to work with but if you have tools and stuff you should be fine.

I would imagine its a countach but dont know my buddy didn't know. I have a pretty good system I usewhen doingmotor swaps, it includes lots of pics &numbered masking tape for all conections. (electric and mechanical) If I need to rewire anything then im not going to even bother.

You don't seem to know much about it.
You need to know what engine it is. How much HP is it going to be pumping out. Exotic cars didn't make hp back then like they do now. Putting in an engine that weighs twice as much as your current one without much hp gain won't make much sense especially for all the work that will be required.

I consider myself going into this blind at this point which is why im asking for any input regarding these cars. So far I have heard that these older Italian cars are an electrical nightmare. (AF & Family sources) I'll have more info on the car sometime this week, at which time I'll decide if im going to even bother with it.
lol I was talking to my uncle regarding a motor swap my brother and i were supposed to do in his escort. And decided that maybe if i do this lambo swap ill take the motor off the guy, rebuild it, & cram it into the escort.
I dont even know what ill bid the job at this point, I really need to look at it first. I will also tell this guy that my work will NOT be warrantied onTHIS job just in case it bursts into flames!

It don't think you should do it. Its going to be a nightmare putting the motor in, and then its just going to be a maintenance hassle once you put it in, old Italian motors are incredibly difficult to work with because of the electrical. Also there isn't exactly a lot of mechanics that work on late 80s lambo motors, so if something goes really wrong and you cant fix it then your screwed. Stick with your Audi engine.
