Possibly out of sync.
if i recall, re-syncing involves putting a key in the ignition in the 'on' position, and the other one in the door, and pressing/holding either lock or unlock.
Thats by vague memory of something I read 3+ years ago, you'll have to research for yourself.
Also remember reading that it'll happen if youre the type to play with your key in your pocket, pressing the lock/unlock buttons while out of range of the car.
Again, you'll need to figure out if thats the truth or not yourself, but its a direction...
