Kawasaki 500R
.... Since this April I will be doing all thw work on my car (Detailing, Painting Lowers, Coilovers, Rims, Tints, Exhaust, HID, Etc...) I have decided to get a Ninja 500R for next summer... I know its over a year away but just felt like posting about it since I leave work in an hour and need to kill time... So yea... I have only ridden a motorcycle twice and I loved it.. I'm not a pro at it and Will most definitely take classes and get my license first... I'm thinking about this sports bike... Its only $5000 and 500cc but it IS my first bike and I don't want it to be my last... Watta u guys think?

RE: Kawasaki 250R
You are going to want to start out on something bigger than a 250. Try a 500 for your first bike... You can ride that for a year and after that I'm sure you'll want something bigger, but its a good starter bike. Anything smaller and you'll want to sell it within a couple weeks. If you wanted to start off on something that small, I'd just go out and get a spree!! Its cheaper, handles about the same, and you wont need a license to ride it!!

awesome idea, back in the summer of '05 i walked into a dealership, to look, i left the proud owner of ninja ZX-636, never even ridden a bike before, i had it delivered, and i basically taught myself to ride the damn thing. not the best bike to learn on, but now i'm good and no need to purchase a larger bike. i love it, and i miss it, its in my mother-in-laws garage for the winter since i just sold my condo(garage) and moved into an apartment, but as soon as we have some constant warmer weather herein PA, i will have it near me at all times. and i did take the MSF course, and now have a license, its nice PA provides that class free for residents. so good luck with it! and enjoy it.

Good advice from the guys above. Definitely get yourself into the MSF class and learn the proper techniques to riding. As for starting with the 500r, I think it's a pretty good choice. It will be a great bike to learn on and when you finally decide that you are ready to move up, you should be able to sell it for pretty much what you paid for it. Those kind of bikes are always in demand, especially in the new rider category. They make pretty decent commuter bikes as well, although you maybe be wishing you had a little more power here and there though. Take your time and enjoy the bike man.
When I started riding a couple years ago I started on a suzuki katana 600, as much as I regret owning a katana haha it was a pretty decent starter bike which I rode the hell out of for a year. After that I upgraded to a new ninja 636 and haven't thought about replacing it at all.

Looks to me like everyone else with bikes on here thinks Green goes good with the rings...
Definatly take a class though... They teach you everything you need to know. Here in MI I think it cost like 50 bucks, but it is sure worth it considering you get to practice on someone else's bike!! I didn't take a class. Kind of wish I did, but I'm a fast learner and have ridden other stuff all my life, so I just hopped on a bike and learned... had my license within about 6-8 hours of time on a bike... My dad took the class last year and he's been riding since the '70's. He said there's a lot of interesting stuff to learn, that he didn't even know...
