I was just looking for a post on this topic so I could rant as well. I think it takes more time for me to think of an incorrect way to spell a word than type the correct one. I don't understand why someone says "cuz" instead of "because" or "wit" instead of "with". Seriously, one more letter makes a correct spelling of the word. Everytime I read a post where someone is completely stupid, I think of the movie Idiocracy with Luke Wilson because I was dumber for having watched it. It also reminds me of Billy Madison's speech on the impact of the Industrial Revolution on America. If our kids keep thinking it's okay to text or e-mail in this way, the harder it will be for them to decide the correct spelling or grammar as they get older. This world is getting ridiculous. Wow, I just broke down our lives based on incorrect spelling in a car forum....neat.

 

Well, it's certainly bad practice to type like a moron if you hope to write any good papers in the future. But some people don't value education, I guess. What's really bad is when they're proud of it.

However,I oftenhave a dictionary website windowopen for other words thatI type so I don't look stupid cuz of misspelling. I'm assumig the reader knows that I know cuz =because.


edited for math, not spelling. originally, i said 2.3333333333 more letters which would indicate and addition problem of 3 + 2.333333333 = 7, and we all know that is incorrect, but times as many would indicate a multiplication problem of 3 x 2.3333333333333 = 7 which is the correct answer....well, it's close. the real answer is: 6.999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999 99999999999999999 (i could go on and on and on and on and on)

 

I, on the other hand, am a self-professed cunninglinguist, and type non-standard ways of misrenouncing standard words (oft-times in languages OTHER than American-English, just to show how cunning my linguistical abilities trooly am), JUST to show how rilly, rilly KOO I B!!!

 

You could've just written 2.333... and been exactly right with fewer characters (because three digits followed by ... indicates a repeating decimal). Or you could've just written 2.33 originally and assumed we knew about the arcane art of rounding. But you decided to go the extra mile just to be wrong. I guess it's cool, if you're into that. :P
