I use ashtray for the same reason you mentioned. My friend burnt my rear seat of my Saab when he flicked the lit ciggarette, it landed on my rear seat because of the wind. Also it is so much convienient. Try putting baking powder in your ashtray and use it for ash and putting off your cigs and you will see a difference.

When I detailed cars... to clean floormats, I'd just yank them all out of the car, set them down, wet them with the hose, brush them with a course brush quickly (just to get most of the water out) then I'd spray the hell out of them with degreaser... I'd brush them again, then let them sit for 5 minutes with the foamy degreaser on them... Then I give them one more brush, and hose them off again. Hang 'em to dry, and they look like new. Takes 15 minutes or so total, plus drying time.

my floor is black and my mats are black. i'm all about lookin gooooooooood!
...and they were ordered from the dealer and given to me as a christmas gift!!

Yeah those are called monster mats. I have 'em and only use them in the winter. I used to use them all year round... but I went back to the oem cloth ones for summer. I prefer the feel of them under my feet.
