At a time when the USA has elected its first black president ever, when Obama stands ready to pull the country together, when he is preaching equality and responsibilty, I find it ironic that this Reverend would speak such words on behalf of Obama. My main issue is the time and place of what he is saying. Not exactly the hope and change I am looking for.

Two wrongs dont make a right. You shouldnt speak categorically about any race of people. You definitely shouldnt critisize one race and sympathize with every other race and also claim to not judge people based on the color of their skin. If this man was really interested in seeing people for what they are, he wouldnt call out groups based upon their race or color.

Prejudice exists on all sides. A black person can choose not to hire a white person just as easily (ignoring affirmitive action) as a white person can choose not to hire a black person. However, a black person has much more freedom to speak about race then a white person. The inequality appears to be changing sides???

I hate to bring up Rev. Wright but these comments brought him to mind. For some reason, I doubt Obama's comments about Wright even more now than before.

"Forty-four Americans have now taken the presidential oath."

Meaning essentially that 44 have taken the oath - not 44 have taken the oath before him...

Since his speech was after he took his oath - his quote was not incorrect.

No where in the speech did I see mention of a capital building. Just that "the capital was abandoned". And no mention of the the year 1777.

If you were referring to the Revolutionary War. That was being fought from 1775 to 1783. And yes, Congress had abandoned Philadelphia (which at that time was the US Capital city until Washington DC was created).

Perhaps, you should study your history better as well...
