You're crazy.

Do you want to send your paycheck to the government and have THEM decide where YOUR money should go? Do you trust all of the corrupt politicians currently sitting in congress?

So much for freedom

Anybody upset at the use of these words in this situation?

The hypocrisy is undeniable.
i think chris rock said it best in "Kill the Messenger". You cant really make fun of the little guy, tall people cant make fun of short people. I mean in a way, we do have it a lot better than the blacks. If you dont see racism where you live everyday, then you must be sharing mail boxes with Michael Jackson. Were u more offended by what he said, or just the fact that if you said it about the blacks it would be taken differently? Cant have your cake and eat it too.

Dude, our President is black!

Racism is a thing of the past. Sure a white guy and a black guy might get into an argument/fight and shout some racial slurs to one another, but that hardly means that the U.S. as a whole is a racist country.

Ummm, did I mention we have a black president??? Seriously man, racism is starting to swing the OTHER way now. Companies have to meet a quota regarding the number of asians, blacks, hispanics etc... that they employ.

It's a shame that companies have to hire people based on their race -- that to me is racism. Why can't they just hire talent in whatever form it comes in? White, black, asian -- it doesn't matter.

You're talking about affirmative action. Pick up a few philosophy books and you'll find the answers you're looking for...

Why can't "they" just hire talent in whatever form it comes in? Who's "they"? When it comes down to an individual doing the hiring, they might be racist. Affirmative action levels the playing field. It's far from perfect, but at least it opens doors to some that deserve it... who, because of subvert racism, might never have been able.

Again, I don't know enough about it to really argue either way. There's a good argument on either side of the fence, though.

Just because your country elected a black president does not mean racism is dead. It's still out there... both overt, and underground.

Affirmative Action is just a specialized form of Racism. Anything that's discriminatory towards an individual's skin color or ethnic origin, whether it's hiring someone for a job or allowing someone admission to a school -- it all falls into the same bucket that we call racism.

And "they" are employers. Sure, there are probably some employers that might turn somebody away because of their skin color, but those employers are only a few among the many employers that are required to adhere to affirmative action laws (depending on state) as well as their own affirmative action policies. Most major corporations, like I said before, are required to meet quotas on their employee race record. That being said, lots of people (myself included) wouldn't work for an employer that takes part in any kind of employee discrimination. Bottom line is, companies that discriminate based on race, sex, religion, etc...are a dying breed.

On that note, do you think that BET would hire me (educated white male) to be a host on their network? I seriously doubt it. Would you consider that racism?

Regarding the fact that we have a black president -- think of it this way. I think it's safe to assume that a racist person would NOT vote for a black president. The popular vote was relatively close to 50/50, but was still in Obama's favor. So, let's say 55% of the voters in the U.S. voted for Obama and are not racist. I highly doubt that the entire remaining 45% voted for another candidate simply because they weren't black. That being said, I would be willing to bet that there are very few people in this country that voted for a candidate other than Obama because of his skin color.

I agree, there are areas of the country and social groups that consider their race to be superior to others -- but don't forget that it goes both ways and it is certainly not that prevalent today.

I could care less if he made an error. I'm just glad I won't have to hear "nucular" anymore. Like him or not hes in charge. Deal with it.

Well I am from Chicago and remember when Barak Hussian Bin Laden Obama became a Jr. Sen. and was carried by the I hate America Media and was groomed to become the President from the get go.

I am not afraid to admitt that I did not vote for this wolf hiding in sheeps clothing. The truth will come out but I believe it may be too late.

Obama is putting on a great show and people think he is the Messha to save the world...Maybe this is what we needed so we will wake up.

The funny thing is that everyone says he is the "1st Black US President"....But they dont say he is White and Black..which he is.

If you're somehow implying that he's a terrorist then I think you're pretty ignorant and I'm sure quite a few people would agree with me. But isn't it great to have the right to freedom of speech?
