Inaugural Address: President BHO
I didnt get a chance to catch the speech live but here's the transcript:
http://www.drudgereport.com/flashosi.htm
its a speech that will forever be apart of this nations history.
Here's my $.02:
I liked the interplay between winter and the nations current problems. I also liked the link between freedom and responsibilty. Could definitely feel the influence of JFK.
Two parapgraphs in the middle seemed out of place
- "What the cynic fails...."
- "Nor is the question...."
He speaks about the role of government programs and the free market. The role of government in redistributing wealth for the common good will likely be a major theme of this administration over these next few years.
What do you all think???

Well the 2 mistakes in his speech were certainly out of place.
1. There were only 43 americans to take the presidential oath before him.
2. There was no capital buliding in 1777.
These are high school mistakes.
The guy is so not qualified to be where he is.

I quote Bush's farwell address:
"I hope you can agree with the decisions I have made. And, if you cant, I hope you can agree that I was willing to make those decisions". Really Mr. President?....

And by the way I did vote in november, before anyone says anything. I went to COURT the morning of election day to get a court order to vote when they tried to deny my right by saying they 'lost' my voter registration. The judge automatically let me vote. I can proudly say that when I was 18 and voted for the first time, I voted for the black guy.

There's no reason to bash Bush at this point. He and his wife were booed yesterday, and a statue of his father in Houston was vandalized. Acts that taint what should otherwise be a day of celebration.
And I want a lot more from Obama than mere desire to have the most powerful job in the world. We might not want to be president, but there are many who do. Bush wanted to be president, right? I mean what more could you ask for
As for the two paragraphs that I mentioned earlier.
It is great if government programs work, but it is a fair to question the role of government. That is what is great about this country. We should eliminate programs that do not work, but programs that do work do not automatically qualify as necessary or justified. It will be interesting to see how social security is reformed or eliminated.
The part about oversight and the free market is somewhat ironic since it was the democrat leadership that is still in control (Barney Frank) who deserves as much blame for the economic collapse as anyone else. And I dont understand what nation he speaks of that "favors only the prosperous." I hope Obama is able to separate his social views from his economic ones.
Overall it was well written and well delivered. He spoke concisely about many subjects and had an overall theme of togetherness and determination. Some lines sounded very similar to what Bush said at his inauguration. Proof that the core principles of America run deep in both men.

"Forty-four Americans have now taken the presidential oath. The words have been spoken during rising tides of prosperity and the still waters of peace."
44 = he's counting himself too ... So what are YOU talking about??
I didn't even see where he said anything about the capital building

The speech of Rev. Lowery has created some contrversy:
http://blog.beliefnet.com/stevenwald...on-benedi.html
"help us work for the day when...white will do what is right."
Anybody upset at the use of these words in this situation?
The hypocrisy is undeniable.
