Default Identity Theft...

Its an empty feeling folks. I have purchased so much stuff over the years online and it finally caught up with me. Some one some where got a hold of my card info and fvcked me. Luckily the woman at the bank told me today as I deposited a check. The first and only purchase happened today and I was able to cancel my card and my bank has started an investigation. The purchase was for ~$500 and an overdraw charge of $1200. Again luckily both charges will be taken off but as of right now my account is sitting at around -$1500. I wanted to punch someone in the face. I hope the person gets caught and is prosecuted to the fullest extent. I really cant stand lying cheating stealing bastards. Oh well thats it maybe I can sue... What are your thoughts on the subject?

Ther perps are usually never caught.

Your credit history may be F'd for years.

You will spend waaaaaayyy too much time and energy dealing with this.

You *must* contact the 3 major credit bureaus and place a fraud alert on your account NOW!

good luck!

This really sucks, and the laws on the books for this type of crime ain't sh*t - they need to have teeth and the retail industry needs to freaking step up to the ethics plate.

Sorry dude! Reality sucks when this is the issue.

Good to hear that. That may not be all though.

Keep an eagle-eye on your credit history. You may not have heard/experienced the last of this sh*t...

Be diligent, and good luck.

Agreed with rmh. If I were you, I will first check my detailed credit history, and see if lenders have put some comments on it. There, you will see two types of lender credit checks. One is where it affects your score, and the other one which is unsolicited and doesn't affect your score...like the ones done by Capital One bank, who sends you pre-approved credit cards and offers.

I have read about a lady on RD, where she has to get new SSN due to identity theft. So, good luck!

a fraud alert is a little annoying but it is worth it for example i have a fraud alert on my account and one day i applied for a credit card on amazon and it took 3 weeks to get an answer because they needed to verify my adresses and verify it was me..... Fraud alert is the best thing i have done to my credit report it is a must

It it only gets easier for crooks with companies like visa and mastercard running everything, now they dont even require a signature... We need fingerprint scanners for every cashless transaction

i had the same feeling man, TWICE!...i hate it. Ive done proabably at least $10,000 worth of online purchases in my life (im 24) and it happened to me twice in the past 2-3 years, nothing recent though. My credit card company always took care of me though. (bank of america)

Definitely notify the credit reporting agencies and have them put a fraud alert on your profile.
