What about a used A6 Avant? I have that now and have done quite a few Home Depot runs with it.
Lumber, sheet rock can fit either on top or inside with the seats folded down. Plenty of room for the family, kids/pets etc.

thats depressing, im thinking about doin the same with my A4 gettin a little to expensive. ive driven both the allroad, and the touareg. i love the allroad with the 6-speed and the bi-turbo. but the touareg is a VERY comfortable, smooth ride also. if i were u though, id prob look at an A4 3.0

do the formula, buy a smaller car....some sorta hatch, and with the money you save on fuel and car payments and insurance you can rent a truck on day twice a month for a year to do hauling and still come out ahead. and you will be amazed by the stuff you can fit in those hatches. Like i said my dad has a touareg and he is paying 600 bucks a month for it (bought it new) and all it does is take him to and from work. He still calls me to use my F-150 when he need something hauled. Use rental places as a option and if you have friends with trucks keep milking them. Or if you need truck use very often, get a tow hitch and use a boxed trailer (can score this really cheap on ebay or craigslist), and you have more capacity than any suv. hope this helps...
edit: the most versitile vehicle i have ever known or found has to be these sport hatchbacks...particulary the gti's. there fast, handle awesome, comfortable for a 6'4" guy with 4 in the car and look dam good with that wicked votex kit.

Hate to see you part with such a nice car, looks like you've put some time into it already. Good to see that you can prioritize things, I've had problems with that in the past for sure. Everyone should live within their means...
What do you do for a job right now?
