Careful Josh - glad to hear you got away intact - but carrying a knife will get you in more trouble than it's worth. Like Cyber, I'm licensed with a concealed weapons permit and there are strict laws in California when it comes to carrying weapons.

Pepper stray - mace - tazer are better. Requires no licensing and are considered non-lethal weapons which is better. To get a CWP in CA is not easy, you have to show just cause. Personal defense is not justifiable. You must be invovled in a high risk area - carry large sums of money, etc.

It was easy for me since I manage a police impound yard. But I don't carry guns myself.

 

Damn Josh, that's crazy! Glad to hear your alright. You moved from out of state right? You gotten your California plates yet? You may be getting targeted from some shady people because of it. Just a thought...

Josh, I'm really sorry man! The knife idea is very bad. If you don't have a REAL CWP or such and can't carry a gun, then you're best to have mace or a taser. Personally, the best defense in California is to pay attention to where you are and avoid potential dangerous areas. Don't go back to your friend's apartment, and find a nice place to live. Definitely stay out of all the bad areas at night.

Welcome to another reason why I'm moving from this place. Although, I haven't had any weapons pulled on me ever. Well, I did have several people pulls guns on friends and I when I was younger in New Orleans. But that is a different, very long story.

Yeah I am not going to get a knife. I thought about it and that is a bad idea... nothing good could come from it.

And yeah I am moving to another place here in 13 days. It's a brand new apartment complex in Venture (The apartment I was at was in Oxnard which is a sucky place all around). And I am being much more aware of who and what is around me now. If I see anything suspicious I will leave and come back later.
