Default Hurricane Katrina

Well I just returned from Norway TDY after 3 weeks and I'm elated to report all is well with my family and they've relocated in Houston for the time bring. The sad news is that we lost everything when the leevee collasped. Luckily my people headed that warning and left 2 days before the storm hit. Now its the process of starting from the ground up, not only my family all the other families that lived near Lake Pontchatrain where water reached 12ft. So I'll be postponing my supercharger project and divert that cash to my family and thats most important at this time. New Orleans was destined for a wipe out, there was too much crime, murder, drugs and corruption. I truly believe God had a grudge with the Gulf Coast and created a Sodom and Gomorrah type destruction whereby both the good and bad suffering.

easy buddy. i understand your frusteration... but i don't think taht was really a mocking remark... it was more of a 'it was inevitable' remark... which you have to admit... it was. under sea level... someday it had to happen. it's very unfortunate it happened in our time, but i don't think that comment was meant to harm you.

glad you've made the decision to postpone what is clearly not a necissity in your familys time of need. it's surprising how many people would still buy that supercharger.

sorry to here that you guys lost so much but it's good that everyone made it out ok. we are expecting to feel something here in houston from RITA, and debating weather to leave or not. all things considered we will probably leave just to be on the safe side. its supposed to be a cat. 4 or 5 when it hits.

are you leaving flyboy????

Glad to hear your family is alive and well.

As to "what did you expect"

Well.

Did you expect a politically corrupt city, council, state, and county to be diligent in the safety of it's persons?

Did you expect people who have been handed everything in their lives by the federal government to behave with decorum, resolve, decency or compassion?

Did you expect the mayor to do the right thing and move those hundreds of busses to high ground like his own evacuation plan said?

Did you expect the governor to call for an evacuation before the president asked her too?

Did you expect that the state guard would have facilitated the evacuation like the evacuation plan said?

Did you expect that all those years of state ,county, city government employees both elected and unelected leaching of public money from the levee projects would not have an adverse effect?

Finally..

Did you expect the city at some point 70 ft below sea level to float???????

I have compassion for the individual who must now rebuild his/her shattered lives, I have compassion for the families that lost people. I have very little compassion for the whole thing as a whole. Much of this disaster while inflicted by Mother Nature is simply the fault of the collective people. There i said it, they brought this decrepit craptastic asinine socialist society to its knees by doing what socialist societies do best...

And that is expect some one else to do the hard work for you. The hard work in this case is standing up with some moral fiber 30 years ago and getting rid of the political corruption, starting at the local level.

ouch, felt that one deep. And as for leaving, yeah, we'll probably get the cats and go stay with relitives in dallas. I really think most of what we are hearing is just fear and hipe brought on by the last disaster, Although, I don't mean that it may not come here.

Oh and thanks jazz for clearing that up so well.

yeah, it does sound like fear and hype, but i had the same apathy when i was headed to tulane to drop my sister of for school (in new orleans) the weekend of KATRINA. by the next morning they issued an evacuation, and it took us 15 hours to get back to houston (5 hour drive if you go the speed limit). so i'll choose error on the side of caution this time. i know the geographical differences between us and NO, but remember we have bayous that flood with a reagular hard rain.

I feel for you man, that place won't be right for years. Hope your family can settle in someplace and get a freshstart. And every day for the last few weeks I look at the cattle cars flying through Frankfurt and wonder how many soldiers on them are leaving that sh*tbox Iraq just to go home and get redeployed to control the chaos in New Orleans.

And on another note, has everyone seen the Kanye West clip http://www.big-boys.com/articles/kanye.html <-- (computer retard, i dont know how to link this stuff) but that ******* doesnt help anything. Check out Chris Tuckers expression.
