Porsche is a surname pronounced as 'pour-shuh' by the family itself, so there can be no German - to - English translation BS when it comes to that. There was a pretty big dispute about the pronunciation of Porsche in my English class a few months ago, so my teacher ended up looking it up online.
What's worse is that one of the people that SWORE it was pronounced as 'pour-shh' has a brother with two Porsches and parents who both drive BMWs.[&o]
By the way, I live in the middle of innumerable square miles of corn fields - would anyone like to guess how many times my car gets called an 'aw-dee'?? [:@]
