Lol, "spirit" is another word for alcohol.
ORIGINAL: 18T
"have not had that spirit here since 1969"
always thought they were refering to the girl for some reason.

I am not going to read all of that.. but I think its about being an Alcoholic.. going out on concert and partying too much.. then you realize your an alcoholic..
That is like your welcome to meetings.. and admitting your an alcoholic
Now they are just reliving the memories
You can leave AA at anytime, but your always going to be an alcoholic..
Listen to the rest of the song.. and try to associate it with my theory.. it makes sense
So I called up the Captain,
'Please bring me my wine'
He said,'We haven't had that spirit here since nineteen sixty nine'
And still those voices are calling from far away,
Wake you up in the middle of the night
Just to hear them say...
'Please bring me my wine'
He said,'We haven't had that spirit here since nineteen sixty nine'
And still those voices are calling from far away,
Wake you up in the middle of the night
Just to hear them say...
Mirrors on the ceiling,
The pink champagne on ice
The pink champagne on ice
You can check out anytime you like.. but you can never leave.
Listen to the rest of the song.. and try to associate it with my theory.. it makes sense

A Google search on the meaning of Hotel California comes up with a bunch of hits. I bet the guys from the Eagles get a real kick out of this - they probably just got drunk and stoned one night and wrote the song using whatever words fit together and rhymed.
