My parents bought me the JHM solid throw short shifter and I installed in yesterday evening. Straight forward installation, except I didnt have the cool tool to do the 3 degree and 7 degree offsets.

It feels really good. Not only is the throw shorter, but you can feel the gears a lot better. Theres none of the mushy feel you get with stock.

Now I need to get a PhD so I can get another upgrade to the car.

My buddy has a short throw on his '92 3-series and he hates it. Because he misses 3rd all the time. It's not his fault; he can drive but the shifter is crappy. But it sounds awesome. Get a sweet shift **** for it. I've always been a fan of the classic white ball.

I am pretty pleased so far. I went with JHM because they have a really solid reputation and I heard nothing but good things about their shifter. The ball joint and bushings are upgraded from plastic/rubber to metal, so there is more to it then just the short throw. I retained the stock shaft height as suggested.
