Got pulled over (first time)
After speeding like a maniac for a year or so, I finally got pulled over by the California Highway Patrol. I was running between 90 and 110 in light traffic on the highway, then about 80 or so on a connecting highway. I never even saw it coming, I guess I just let my guard down or something. Anyway, I exited the main highway to the connecting highway and slowed down a little because there are less lanes and more cars. I'm about to take the exit to Jamba Juice when I see a highway patrol run up on my tail. I drop it down to 55mph right away (not that it really matters, I was pretty much busted already). He waits for a minute, then puts his lights on. I start to pull over into the shoulder and he tells me to take the exit, turn left into the parking lot. I do it, park my car, turn the car off, roll down my window and put my hands on the wheel.
Exchange goes as follows:
CHP: "Do you have any idea why I pulled you over?"
Me: "Probably for speeding sir"
CHP: "Lemme see your license, registration and insurance card"
Me: "My licence and insurance is in my wallet, is it alright for me to reach for it?"
CHP: "Get it"
Me: "The registration is in the glovebox, is it okay if I open it and get it out?"
CHP: "Yeah, go ahead"
CHP: "How fast do you think you were going back there?"
Me: "I don't know maybe about 80 or so, I'm not really sure"
CHP: "Are you sure about that? How about on the other highway?"
Me: "I don't know"
CHP: "How fast were you going"
Me: "Sir, I honestly don't know"
CHP: "This is your last chance, how fast were you going?"
Me: "Sir, I was focusing more on the road than my speedometer, I'm sorry"
CHP: "How does 103mph sound? Cutting people off, tailgating" (I wasn't tailgating or cutting people off)
Me: "103? whoa..."
CHP: "People like you get in accidents on the highway all the time, and who do you think has to scrape it up"
Me: "You do, sir"
CHP: "How old are you?"
Me: "18"
The CHP walks back to the back of my car to verify my plate and valid registration
CHP: "Get out of here, and if I ever catch you speeding on my highway again, I'm taking you to jail"
As far as I can tell, because I didn't admit to going 103mph and because I don't have any priors, he let me go. I'm still kicking myself over where he could have been hiding - I could have sworn I was watching the entire time.

Nope, nothing. No written warning, just a verbal warning.

I wonder if they clocked you from the air and then put the trooper on you.

That's pretty sweet if he was saying you were going over 100. I wouldn't count on that ever happening again.

Kilo, I agree with you 100%, I was driving like a jackass as far as speeding is concerned. I'll be honest, I probably won't change my driving that much - I never even drive on the highway - because my commute (pretty much the only driving I do) is 4 miles of city traffic. No chances to speed at all.
I completely deserved any ticket I would have gotten, but at the same time, I'm not going to admit to wrong doing. The burden of proof has to fall on the ticketing officer. Doesn't mean you can't be a nice guy though.
