They're also based on average repair cost of the car you're insuring, the car's horsepower,the average number of crashes that model of car has been involved in compared to the national average per year, the car's current condition and value,your specific driving record, all sorts of things. Really, the price of your premium that is based on your age is a pretty low overall amount of the total premium. My premium went up a lot more changing from the S4 to the M5 than it went down when I turned 25.

 

I've never heard of anyone being cancelled for modified vehicles? The insurance company that I work for excludes any kind of racing especially if it's on a track.

When it comes to insurance rates and how high they are... I used to think the same way until I got into insurance. You wouldn't believe how many bad drivers are out there. If the government would do something about people with terrible driving records, insurance companies could lower their rates. I have seen policies with multiple major violations in the same year and yet the state lets them keep driving. Tickets make money for the government even when it means people driving around drunk and killing people.

 

Did you know that you don't need a driver's license to get your car registered at the DMV or even to get insurance?...A while back I had my license taken away for being a dumba$$, and during my suspension I bought a car from a private owner, took it to the dmv to get it's inspection and register (I drove it in!)...and the next day I called progressive and said i bought a new car!, please add it to my plan...I faxed them the info and they sent me an insurance card a couple days later....

well, some companies are strict on some aren't. my mom's lexus sc300 got in a accident and the insurance payed to get a new front bumper for it. it's a got a bodykit.
