pturbo- I love shooting cars, but every time I try to shoot at a show, I can never get a shot I like[:@] Usually with cars I like to have a cool setting and I like to take the time to set up an interesting shot. Just can't really do that at a show.
It just takes some time figuring out what kind of shot to go for with any particular set-up at a show. Get a tripod, and don't be afraid to make people walk around you. Do it a little and you'll start to relish the challenge of finding "the shot" while nearly being trampled by a huge crowd of inattentive people.

I don't want to jack your thread here, or I'd post some pics that I took at SEMA 04 and Xtreme AutoFest to give you some ideas.

By the way, if you're really looking to learn about photography, check out www.fredmiranda.com Lots of helpful stuff there.

I just bought an Olympus E-500. Love it. still learning, 9only had it a few days), but it felt nicer than the others when I was playing with it. There does seem to be a sort of heavily defended Canon/nikon camp out there. They tend to deride anything other than... I love it anyway. Off today to see what i can do with it. My old digi (not SLR..regular point and click) was pretty doog, (Camedia 3000), was a decent wee camera, but it broke, so figured I'd get a budget SLR and see what I could do with it.

Very nice pics.

I'm actually looking at getting a D50. How do you like it? Most of the reviews I've read have given it pretty high marks.

I haven't really had it long enough to form a real opinion on it, but so far I've found nothing to complain about. It seems to be a top-notch entry level D-SLR.

Well, with $1200 worth of equipment, I should hope so.[sm=roll.gif] Seriously though, my stuff is nothing compared to the pros. You should check out the access photo forums. There's some amazing stuff there.
