Lived there for 3 yrs in a town called Katterbach just NE of Ansbach in the Bavarian state.
I loved it there. So clean and nice. Often wondered why we fought the Germans when I was there - yeah, I know the real why, but it seemed so odd they we were such combatants twice in recent history... lol...
Yeah, almost all European cities are close - but they ain't that close
It's changed since I was there - I left in '89 and the wall dividing Germany fell in 90. If you can check out Berlin as well...
And if you want a sobering taste of history visit Dachau concentration camp just on the outskirts of Munich...
have fun and remember - protitution is legal there!

I would avoid Venice, but Paris may be worth the effort. There will be plenty to do and see in Germany for a 1 week trip. Make sure you make the most of it but are able to relax and appreciate everything while you are there. I bet it will be an amazing experience.

One of the most interesting places in Europe has to be Rome. But you need atleast two full days there to even begin to scratch the surface. I thought Paris was cool - the architecture and museums are spectacular. Its all about what you are interested in.
