Default RE: German JDM??

I guess any CF counts as a performance mod since it is weight reduction.
Sadly, most commercially available carbon fiber parts weigh nearly as much as their stock counterparts, since the most common form of it these days is a thin carbon fiber overlay on a fiberglass structure. It's for looks, to most people. A carbon hood might knock 5-15 pounds off of the average car at most, a savings roughly equivalent to yanking the sound deadening out or replacing the seats with lightweight race versions or even chunking the stock steering wheel and airbag. But hey, yanking sound deadening doesn't impress the adolecents at an import cruise, but a Vis hood does.

Last year, a guy here tried to set-up a JDM class at one of the bigger car shows we had. It was a miserable failure. The crowd didn't seem too impressed with a bunch of stock looking Civics. That made me laugh.
