Default Front wheel drive A4?

Hello,
I am looking at a 1996 Audi A4, this car is front wheel drive
Great condition, but I have never driven a front wheel drive audi, I dont not like front wheel drive cars the way they have torque steer. I would like your opinion on this. Whould you buy a FWD.
Thanks

This technically belongs in the B5 section. If it ever snows in your area then I would go for a quattro and also its not too hard to find a good deal on an older Audi. I personally will never own a fwd car unless it gets 40mpg or better lol.

He's not asking if we'd buy a FWD B5 A4, he's asking if we'd buy an FWD car.

My answer is no, I wouldn't. (granted, the TT is biased way to the front) (I did fix that though with the Haldex Blue controller).

Generally you're dealing with torque steer, usually prone to understeer, you can't do a proper donut in the snow, burnouts look silly...

Only if the car came with $1M in the trunk. Never buy an Audi without quattro. You'll just be cheating yourself.

the B5 fwd dosent have torque steer because it has a longitudinal mounted engine and even length half shafts, they do understeer pretty bad ive noticed. personally unless im going to use it cruising and slow driving. if you want ill sell you my a4 quattro. im looking t getting aUrS4 soon anyways. pretty much look at my sig for what i think of fwd audis.

I would settle for AWD or RWD with an automatic transmission before I would purchase any FWD vehicle. And I would NEVER buy a car with an automatic transmission.

That should give you some idea how I feel about FWD.

I still can't figure out why Audi still builds wrong-wheel-drive cars, but that's for another discussion. Anyhoo, anyone who gives a crap about Audis knows that there is simply no substitute for quattro.

As SAudi said, Audi fwd cars don't torque steer. I would buy a fwd car, but it wouldn't be an Audi and definately not a V6 Audi. Due to the design of the engine and transmission, it puts the engine much further in front of the axles than most designs, which increases the understeer. quattro Audi's have this problem as well.
