Actually I don't know about the other Pep Boys but the one near me is getting an ACTUAL sound department soon. Kicker has signed on and I can get **** at like a 70% discount here soon. My buddy works there so I'm just going to go through him.

Full on bass tends to be easier setup as long as you have a decent power amp and subwoofer that will translate the bass decently low with high db capabilities.

However, SQ requires a lot more thinking (and money too). Basically if you decide on going SQ, everything has to come out right - treble, midrange, bass - and other sounds in between.

I personally adopted SQ sound in the Audi. I pretty much past the BOOM BOOM phase in my life.

^ I went to one for the first time couple of weeks ago.

It was an interesting experience. Lots of cheap stuff there!

I'd buy something used for 200... Find a JL W3V3 or something if you can. You'll get something much better that, even though it's used, will outlast a new POS.

Lot of car audio guys swap out for the next new thing every time it's available. Gently used subs can definitely be found without much issue.

If u want to add a lil thump in your trunk just get a nice 10 inch or 12 inch size really wont make that huge of a difference if its just a gift. And get a qlogic box or anytype of ported box to ahcive a deep note. U can buy boxes for cheap on ebay that are ported. As for the sub http://www.sonicelectronix.com/ this site will work. or u can browse ebay. Just make sure its brand new not refurbished.
