Thats 2 cars I know of that you guys got stiffed for. The 3S-GTE in the MR2, and now the 200 has a different engine in. What is the sopec on the 200 in US then? (Nice cars the 200's. very nice inside. one of those dash's that surrounds you, cockpit stylee!

 

we got freakin screwed over we dont have the SR20DET we have the damn KA24DE that only makes 155HP and 160TQ

 

and ours dont even look as nice as the JAP version also

 

Doesn't quite look the same. The front grill is a bit 'odd' compared to what I think of 200's back home. The MR2 Turbo here is 200 bhp. The japanese ones are 245 bhp. about a second quicker to 60 out of the box...
What engine does the GT-4 have? Is that the 3s-gte? If so, I wonder if I could drop it into a US spec mr2?? [:-] I know the fensport people sell the engine for 1500 pounds, including all the ancillaries, (prop shafts, gearbox, clutch, ecu, etc... Hmm..could be a little project for Andy!!)

 

they only had the GT-4 on the older flip head light celicas sadly 200hp/200tq
and the round head light celica here only came in FWD and only had the 2.2 engine with 135hp/145tq

man. they were wicked car! GT-4 had 245 bhp, MR2 Turbo had 245 bhp, 200sx had 220 bhp ( If I recall). You were even late getting the wrx and the evo's. Wonder why, its not like the US has a small market. Maybe Japanese performance cars were 'held back' to keep US sports car market alive? Even the EVO I had 240 bhp, and 0-60 was 5.4 seconds, and that was in the early 90's I think...

 

yes we where screwed they blamed it on the high emissions requirements here in the USA as the reason why those nice cars didnt make it here befor

 

Lol... SUV's which need to tow a fuel tanker behaind them are fine, but a little Japanese sports car is bad for the enviroment..Pah! Politians...what do they know.

 

the SR20DET is a fad riceboy. unless you're building an all motor 240.. the KA24DE handles boost like a CHAMP
