2004-2005 toyota 4runner. I have a late '04 V6 which is essentially what the new ones look like except this one has the 245 hp engine versus the newer but lesser hp ones. i think the current v6 has 235 or 230 hp. Nice thing about the v6 is that you can choose either rwd or 4wd hi/lo. build quality is excellent. Except for 1 rotor replaced, I never had any other issues. Most importantly, they sell for about $15K used. You can probably get a CPO'd under $20k. This thing is tough as nails, is comfortable (considering its a body-on-frame truck), rides smooth, rides quiet (you will notice that especially compared to Fords), pulls strong, decent OEM sound system, and versatile.

I can vouch for the Ford Explorer being very reliable. How about an Explorer Sport Trac?
Here's one near you.

The 4Runner has been in the back of my mind for a while, almost wanted to get one myself. Cherokee would be fun and I'd love an old FJ but the new ones aren't exactly on the list right now.

I like sweetie's idea though, I might have to suggest that.

I like the new FJ. I thought about trading my Audi for the down payment on one until I saw the Secrets of Speed video.

I like the New FJ's capabilities but not a huge fan of the current style.

For me style takes a backseat to capability and utility, but if I can get all three that's even better.
