Default durability of an audi

Hey all. I am new to anything audi. However my mom works for an audi dealership and they just got an audi in with 77k miles and she said she could buy it for 3 grand. However she has no idea what year or anything. I am assuming the engine and drivetrain are all good considering a dealership bought it but my main question is how durable are audi's. Do they go to high milage or what. I have a honda right now that i know will go another 70k so I want to know if audi's run at high miles or if there are problems that I should know about before purchasing this. Thanks for the help.

3k...sounds like and automatic 1996 A4 2.8L 12v Automatic FWD (and the timing belt/ water pump has never been changed)... (I could be wrong....)...I will tell you that any audi that has been well taken care of can easily break 200K mi... the question is did the previous owner take care of the car?....figure out which model, year, engine, etc. and check on previous maintenance records....then get back with us...It will help to know exactly what you are looking at...obviously an audi for 3k originally sounds great, but for all you know you're buying someone elses problems... there have been many a times when Afers come on here complaining because the pos the bought has cost them more to repair than it originally cost....don't become one of them, do some research, then ask your question in the appropriate forum....(ie: if it's an A4=A4 forum)...gl!

if its been taken care of it will go past 200k. just because you were unfortunate enough to buy something that was abused, doesnt mean he will.

Agreed, isn't it funny how most of the people who complain about reliability drive a ~10 year old car that they're not even the origional owner of?

Its always risky buying an audi with that many miles without knowing the owner, but!!!! if your getting from an audi dealer where your mom worksi'm sureyou can get an audi certified theremechanic to do a full service and check up on it before selling. In that case... i would go for it...nothing is better than having your own audi on the road

As everybody has said, If it was taken care of they will last for ever. I currently and the second owner of a 96' A4 with 193,xxx on the clock. She runs great, and I don't have any huge problems with her. Tell us when you find out what the car is exaclty and we might be able to help you a little more
