drive thru car wash...NEVER AGAIN!

RE: drive thru car wash...NEVER AGAIN!
He's giving you a hard time because they dont want to involve insurance companies. He'd prefer to pay out of pocket.
Sears pretty much got their *** handed to them when they lifted my old car and crushed the rs4 side skirts I had installed. It ended up costing them ~$3500ish to fix. The initial quote was for 2k which they decided to pay out of pocket, but with the repairs running a couple weeks over due (I got a bunch of other paint done at the same time on their tab, gotta love dodgy body shops) anyway, by the time they paid for the rental car, the additional labor etc it ended up $1500 more which they were pissed about but knew they had no leg to s tand on.
You should take it to a body shop that you have not affiliation with and you'll get a quote for probably twice if not 3 times that much, If you go to 2 tell the 2nd one what the 1st quote was and he'll match or slightly beat it. Give the car wash dude all 3 and tell 'em you'll take the cash from your dads quote.
By law you have the right to go to ANY bodyshop to have your repairs done, they have no say in the matter. Get their insurance info and be done with it. If he refuses to provide the info call the police if they wont give you their insurance info.
---- BAH... Should have read the entire thread, I pretty much just said the same thing as JD....

man , i just cant win with this guy. well actually, I think im finally starting to git somewhere.
After him trying EVERYTHING he could think of to git out of paying or to lower the price, (and making me cry on my way to work on wednesday and then hanging up on me) I finally told him that he can save his breath and that i am going to the audi dealership, then to the justice of the peace to file a claim. And that if he wouldnt comply to giving me his insurance information, then i'd have a police officer escort me over to git it--the carwash guy laughed saying "well fine, if u wanna pay $75 to file a claim go right ahead! and the police arent going to do anything, they are busy"
.......sooo i start chuckling and say "no no buddy, YOU'll be the one paying the $75 PLUS the estimate from the audi dealership and PLEASE BELIEVE that i have many cop buddies who would LOVE to put someone in their place such as yourself,"
and he interrupts me right there and just says "well how bout i just mail you a check this week"
rachael +1, carwash NOTHIN!
this check better CLEAR or his *** is goin to be sooooooooooo sorry

RE: drive thru car wash...NEVER AGAIN!
congrats, hopefuly he lives upto his word on this one and you dont have to waste any more time dealing with it. You were nicer than I was when sears screwed my side skirts up, I told them if they expected me to run around for hours getting 3 diff quotes when legally i could take it to whoever the hell I liked with insurance they'd have to give me the $ I would be losing not being onsite consulting + gas and mileage.
They ended up taking the quote I gave them and paying out of pocket, instead of paying out of pocket for the cheapest POS quote and me being stuck with the difference between that and a decent body shop.
