Default Drifting a quattro

So being a drift nut who happend to fall in love with german enginering

I find myself turning the gears in my head to build a drift Audi ... maybe a older 5000 or 90 or sumthin Not my current one ;P

my main idea is seal up the front hubs replace the tranny with a stout rwd tranny from either a toy or a nissan then just plain tear it up at the track

Has anyone done this? any other good ideas etc etc .

p,s, prolly not gonna get gung-ho on this for awhile but figure I'd keep the drifting torch burning

A guy on motorgeek converted his 80 to rwd. Its really easy, you dont even need to swap the trans. You basically weld the center diff much like you would on a rear diff to do a posi. Then take your front axles out but you need to put the wheel end back in to hold pressure on the bearing.

Here's the link to his build: http://www.motorgeek.com/phpBB2/view...+cheap+thrills

He has some drift videos too, and i believe its for sale.

Well Dan sort of has a point. Why not just get a RWD Bimmer instead of going through the hassle of converting a perfectly good Quattro car?

An older Quattro car can be had for 500-1000 in running condition. I bought my 5k for $500 and all it needed was a radiator. Maybe he just really likes his Audi and wants to stick with the brand for his next project. If you can make a $500 rwd Audi or buy a $2500 bimmer, why would you want to change brands.

I bought my 5k for $500 and all it needed was a radiator.

Mind you he said this would be a project/play car so it doesnt need to be pretty, just go sideways..

Yeah that is a great point why not just buy a rwd car... true Could do that but its not my style I'd rather be that odd-ball guy tearing it up in leather clad sedan with a yakima snowboard rack on top ... and yes making a pretty drift car is redundent.. its like those real shinny lifted trucks on 48"s makes no sence if your going to beat the greasy hell out of it :P

And yes i reall like audi's so why not keep it in the family right

p.s. i figured theres always haters. he prolly doesnt like drifters cuz we are REALLY COCKY!!! I like to think im really in tune with the car and can drive a car at its limits and beyond them ;P ...(and can prob drift circles around his ride)

My buddy drifts his FWD autotragic 2.0 Focus. Why not get harder tires and get all 4 wheels spinning? That'd be more impressive than a RWD Audi.
