This begs two questions...

1. Where are you located?

2. Any good deals on the Lemon Lot?

I have a A4 1,9 Tdi (130Hp)
I drive mostly on highways and love the grunt and mid-speed acceleration (60-120 km/h).
I just tried a 1,8T (petrol), and it felt weak compared to the diesel, same with the 2.0NA engine, and the 2.8.

I get the economy AND the (useful) power. My next car will definately also be a diesel.
Dude, go get it chipped. The difference is astounding!! Well worth it!

Diesel engines have come along way over the past few years. They are much quieter, more powerful, and nowhere near as dirty as they used to be. MB/VAG diesels are amazing engines in Europe. The obvious fuel economy is great, but the power and especially TQ of the TDI is amazing. I would certainly consider one if they become big in the U.S. which I believe they will over time.

that's because of your crazy high gas prices...if i was paying 8 bucks a gallon i'd have a diesel too...as a matter of fact, even with our prices at 3 bucks a gallon i'd consider getting a diesel a4

Diesel is more expensive in UK than petrol,so its down to economy and not price of the fuel but on average diesel cars here
are approx £1500 -£2000 pound more expensive to buy and req servicing more often.
But father-in-law had a volvo s60 d5 which was awesome at overtaking.

There were rumours that Skoda were going to do a vRS Octavia diesel, (180 bhp)but their current (diesel)vRS Fabia was quicker round
Top Gear track than a mini cooper.
