Default Diesel Hybrid

Audi should develop and produce a diesel-hybrid vehicle. With all the other manufacturers coming up with versions of their own planet-friendly engines, I think Audi is severely lagging behind the times. FSI technology is just not going to cut it IMHO. Since Audi's R10 has proven that a diesel can also be clean and sporty, they should mate it with an efficient hybrid technology. I wonder what the developers at Ingolstadt have to say about it.

Audi is developing multiple "planet-friendly" engines. We just dont hear about or see them here in the states. In EU nearly every audi is a deseil. The 2.0 deseil gets 42.2 mpg city, 68.9 mpg highway, and 55.4 combined. Now if you ask me thats better than any hybrid in production today. They are also finishing an A4 hybrid project that has lasted several years since they are putting hundred of thousands of miles on a test vehicle before they put it into production. Even the RS6 gets 22.2 mpg combined, thats better than my S4 on the highway...

Imagine if they coupled a diesel to an electric motor? I wouldnt be surprised if a car like that would get over a 100 mpg. Hopefully, the next administration will roll back the price of diesel to make it a more feasible alternative to gasoline.

We just talked about electric cars in my modern technolody class and they're really only slightly more efficient than standard combustion because the power grid has the worst efficiency
