Default Der Ein Tag 1000 Rally - **Event Update**

For legal reasons, the name has been changed to "Der Ein Tag 1000" - One Day 1000 Miles
A Very Specail Thanks to A6Audi for designing the event logo!

I would love to see how quick I can get from Prince Rupert, British Columbia to Seattle, Washington.

The drive will take place June, 4th

I will be recording the entire drive, via a headrest mounted JVC Hard Drive camera... (Camera allows for up to 20 hours of digital video in a single recording). I want to put together a time lapse video of the entire trip, to be played in about the span of 5 minutes...

THE FACTS:

Total Distance - 1659km (1030mi)

@ an average of 70mph, it would take 14.71 hours...

I will arrive in Prince Rupert by ferry at 8:00AM, with no time zone changes.

The highway is a one lane road in each direction, in the middle of summer...

The road is mainly through the mountains...

I will have to stop for fuel more than 3 times...

I may crash, be fined by the police, arrested, or a combination of all three...

I will be running my Valentine V1 Radar, as well as a police scanner the entire stretch, with RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) and Washington State Trooper frequencies pre-loaded...

Love the idea? Hate the idea? Wish you could slap me for just thinking about it? Let me know! [&:]

That looks like it could be a pretty cool trip. I've never driven much further north than Whistler in western Cannuckistan. I like your idea of the time lapse video. You could slow it down when actual points of interests popped up. I don't know how to do that, but it sounds like a good idea.

ohh BTW, i have a cool camera mount that would be fun to add but you would need another camera.. its the suction mount so you could mount a camera on the side of your car, now wouldnt that be a blast!!!

yeah, that would be a blast, but the only problem would be getting my vehicle or another vehicle up there to start

Any chance I could borrow that? That would be great, but I would have to work out a 2nd camera deal... Hummmmm, sounds like I could buy one at Wal-Mart, and take it back because I'm "Unhappy" with it's performance...

It would be awesome if someone wanted to ride down! If anyone in the Seattle area is interested, I'd be more than happy to take you along for the ride. If nothing else, it's going to be one hell of a video!
