Default defrauded by Audi of Des Moines service center

This morning, I went to Audi Des Moines service center. My 2005 Audi A6 has some squeaking noise when it turned left, and the rear left turning light does't work sometimes. After almost 5 hours later, the technician told me there are a lot of things need to be replaced. Here is the price:
Front upper control arm bushings with upper link bushings--$858.23
Front sway bar links--$376.99
Rear brake pads/rot ors/caliper bracket--$739.95
Left tail light assembly--$358.99
Both left and right Diff seals--$614.98
Total--$2949.14
Do you guys think all of these are reasonable? My car has 85000 miles. Thank you very much.

Those are dealer prices. You'll be better off finding an independent mechanic with lower labor rates.

I'd call the left tail assembly BS. There's usually a different way of fixing the tail instead of replacing the whole assembly.

700 bucks for rear brake job is also a bit excessive.

I don't know any good independent shops out there but Turbo_Kraut lives in St. Louis. He can probably lead you to the right direction.

The dealers have to keep there shop busy. They look to sell everything they possibly can.
A honest independant Euro repair shop will save you $.

You should go see Alek at EUR Mechaniker. He's a buddy of mine, ASE Master certified tech, specializes in European cars. He replaced the clutch in my A4 back in the day, always does good work.

Or not; I just noticed the date on this thread. Whatevs. In any case, if you're in Des Moines and you need work done, call Alek.

Just wanted to share that Alek is now at Drake Garage www.drakegarage.com and still does fantastic work. Would definitely suggest going to Drake for any Audi repair needs.

Whenever you go to a dealership, you can select the mechanic you want. Hint: Select the mechanic who has already made his house and boat payment. lol

Just an update since I just moved to Des Moines. Alek is no longer at Drake's Garage and they do not work on Audi's anymore....so I'm going to continue my quest or start wrenching on my cars again...I have the tools and the space, just not the time...oh well....
