Default CPO REALLY that much better than a low mile pre owned?

I am considering upgrading from my 03 A4 into an 05 or 06.

I've found a CPO 05 with lots of features that I like, but it has 40k miles. $19,900

I also found a pre-owned 06 with 11,000 fewer miles and LOTS more toys (Navigation) for $500 more. $20,495. At 29k miles I have plenty of time left on the original warranty before I'd even need to consider adding an extended warranty. This one is from a VW dealership, the CPO is obviously from an Audi franchise.

Thoughts?

1 year newer, Lower miles, more toys, seems like a pretty easy decision

The dealer IS charging a premium for CPO sticker or whatever and it might not end up being worth very much in the end.

A sticker is just a sticker.... I'd much prefer the one that's newer more toys and still under warranty.

Agreed, and honestly they're both relatively new. Check maintenance records and overall visible care of the car - that'll tell you quite a bit about how its life has been so far.

A CPO car is a vehicle that's been throughly inspected and repaired to like new condition. The inspection by itself is alloted 3 hours and uses a very thorough checklist, which is significant time for a trained technician to look over the vehicle.

Neither the CPO car or the low milage in warranty car should come with problems, and if they do, get them fixed. That's what the warranty is for.

Definately recommend checking the maintenance history like ImTheDevil said. I see Audis come in with the service reminder on only to find out it's been on for the last 20,000 miles.
